Yesterday, May 13th, kicked off the start of National Salvation Army Week, which runs until the 19th.

In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower’s signed a declaration making one week in May the officially recognized Salvation Army Week all across the US. Eisenhower stated in his proclamation:

Among Americans, The Salvation Army has long been a symbol of wholehearted dedication to the cause of human brotherhood … Their work has been a constant reminder to us all that each of us is neighbor and kin to all Americans, giving freely of themselves, the men and women of The Salvation Army have won the respect of us all.”

During this week, we would like to thank everyone who helps makes all the work we do possible – the countless volunteers, donors, and supporters. To thank you, many of our family thrift stores will be having promotions and discounts! All of our Oahu stores will be having 50% off on Saturday, May 18th, and many of our stores on the outer islands will be having discounts as well!

Once again, THANK YOU for all that you do! Have a great Salvation Army Week!
