The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division is working to assist families in Chuuk who have lost their homes to the devastating Typhoon Maysak yesterday. Our Chuuk officers were able to provide food, water and shelter to about 50 people starting Sunday evening. They anticipated twice that number by the time the typhoon hit. At least five people have died during the storm and families are trying to salvage their belongings from what is left of their homes.

As of today, the typhoon has just hit Yap and is on track to reach the Philippines. We will provide more information as it becomes available. Until then, we have set up a disaster relief fund for Chuuk. We humbly ask for your prayers and donations to help those affected by Typhoon Maysak. 100% of funds raised will go to relief efforts in Chuuk. Donate here.
