“Just Breathe” – Women’s Ministries Camp offers local women a chance to relax and revitalize in the grace of God
More than 100 women from Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Hawaii Island and Molokai attended the 2015 Women’s Ministries Camp. Themed “Just Breathe,” the spiritual retreat guided women through workshops, worship and fellowship – all geared towards learning how to love and care for themselves.
The retreat lasted three days and featured a workshops featuring crafts, home decorating, journaling, and self-improvement. The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Divisional Leader, Major Lani Chamness, and Divisional Women’s Ministries Secretary, Major Vicki Gilden, spearheaded the retreat with inspiring talks and treated the ladies to a special seafood dinner. “This spiritual retreat is to uplift these women who work hard, have been through many hard times, and don’t have the time to treat themselves throughout the year,” said Major Gilden.
Major Gilden shared some of her secret make-up tricks for the Christian woman, removing impurities such as anger and frustration, replacing it with a light blush of forgiveness and strength. “I was saved at Women’s Camp. Right here at Camp Homelani,” said Major Gilden. “I found my calling to officership and serve God through The Salvation Army. I know the women will benefit from the workshops we have and hope they enjoy the opportunity we provide to relax and enjoy God’s presence.”
