  1. I read this article with great interest just 5 days after watching Hilary Cottam’s TED talk–Social services are broken. How we can fix them. I further went onto her websites and read the included part of her reports on what she’s done in Britain to provide a relational-based approach to ending intergenerational poverty and develop self-sufficiency. Being in social services myself, her approach makes complete sense, especially when considering that social services are based on the 1st Beveridge report which he himself said in his last published report that it wouldn’t work unless community was brought in. I’d be overjoyed if this was attempted in Hawaii! Thank you Mr. Chamness for bringing light to a new approach that has already worked in other countries.
