Back to School Supplies Needed
Remember the excitement of the first day of school? Equipped with a new outfit, notebook, and pencils, it was the start of unlimited possibilities and no child should head to the first day of class with a case of “back to school blues!” A new uniform, backpack and supplies can help erase those blues and set a child on the path of success. After all, It’s more than arithmetic and spelling that is learned in the classroom.
This year, the average family is expected to spend $670 on back-to-school supplies and for many families that is more than they can afford. That’s why we are collecting school supplies for families that we serve in the community.
If you can make a donation of new school supplies or clothing, please call our Community Development Manager, Victor Leonardi, at 808.440.1834. Our deadline to collect supplies and clothing is this Friday, July 31.
Some commonly needed items include backpacks, pencils, erasers, pencil pouches, pens, colored pencils, highlighters, rulers, scissors, gluesticks, glue, folders, notebooks, folders, crayons, and markers. Backpacks and shoes are easy to purchase, and we will find a kid that fits them perfectly.
You can help by giving deserving children the tools they need to gain confidence and dream big!
