Aloha to our Salvation Army ‘Ohana,

Are you a football fan? We will be at the Football Kick-Off Fan Frenzy Event at Mililani Shopping Center on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Fans come dressed in their favorite football team’s jersey and colors to enjoy giveaways from Realty Pro, KSSK, and more. We will be collecting school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, backpacks, and other much needed supplies for keiki in need in our community.

Our Adult Day Health Services is in need of some talented volunteers to help with mentally stimulating and fun activities with our seniors!

Here are some of the ways you can volunteer:

  • Play a game! Our seniors love Bingo, puzzles, dominoes, word search, and more.
  • Read a book or talk story! Short stories, current events, feature articles, or simple conversations help our seniors keep their minds fresh.
  • Share a talent! Sing, play ukulele, or teach Tai Chi to entertain our fun-loving seniors.
  • Teach arts and crafts! From origami to painting, our seniors love creating new things.

The ADHS team is looking for volunteers who are ages 18 and older, available on any day from Monday-Friday between 12 noon to 5:30 p.m., and would like to share their talents or spend time with a group of six or more seniors.

Other volunteer opportunities at our ADHS program are:

  • Helping to build raised garden beds
  • Establish and nurture a living garden
  • Office tasks

Also, don’t forget that Foodland and the Western Union Foundation will match a portion of your donation if you designate The Salvation Army at the checkout stand until the end of September!

We pray that you have a safe and enjoyable week.

Mahalo and God Bless,
