A Message from Our Divisional Leaders
Aloha to our Salvation Army ‘Ohana,
We are currently in London for Boundless 2015, an International Congress for The Salvation Army and commemoration of the organization’s 150th anniversary. This is an opportunity to connect with other Salvation Army leaders around the world to discuss best practices for addressing community needs. It is also an opportunity to see the great work being done in other countries!
Last week was quite exciting as we celebrated LEON Day – a “Christmas in June” day that we observe as a reminder that the need for our services and programs are year round. We’d like to thank Swinerton Builders for donating your time to help us raise money in Downtown Honolulu for those in need. We would also like to thank our volunteers and staff that represented The Salvation Army at all Walmart locations and participating CVS Caremark/Longs Drugs locations across the State of Hawaii. You all have helped us raise community awareness of The Salvation Army’s programs throughout the state and helped raise approximately $3,500 during our LEON Day event!
This week, we’d like to wish everyone a safe and blessed 4th of July weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with those in need of freedom from hunger, addiction, and poverty. Our Pathway of Hope initiative has already helped families recover from their struggles and helped them find jobs, safe housing, and a supportive community. Through your support and contributions, we will continue this initiative to free families from the elements that bound them to poverty and addiction and help them to become independent, contributing members of their communities.
