A Message from Our Divisional Leaders
Aloha to our Salvation Army ‘Ohana,
It’s about six months until Christmas and we’re celebrating LEON Day this Thursday, June 25! LEON is noel spelled backwards and it’s a day that reminds our communities that the need for our services and programs is year round. For LEON Day, we’re bringing Christmas cheer during the summer to all Walmart locations and participating Longs/CVS Caremark locations across the state!
Look out for our red kettles and bell ringers as we try to fill our kettles for families in need this summer. If you’re on Oahu, KSSK’s Perry & Price Morning Show will join us in the Christmas-during-the-summer festivities by playing Christmas tunes during their program. And, volunteers from Swinerton Builders will be bell ringing and staffing red kettles in downtown Honolulu from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on all four corners at the intersection Bishop and King Streets.
This summer, we have 450 keiki attending summer camp at our Camp Homelani on the North Shore. These children come from underprivileged communities on Oahu, Hawaii Island, Maui, and Kauai. Camp Homelani offers these children opportunities to learn, play, and make new friends. Thanks to our donors and supporters, many children were able to receive full scholarships to attend camp and have the best summer experience!
