2015 Encore – Divisional Competition
Vocal soloist Brynne Begonia sang two songs, earning her spot for the Territorial Encore Competition.
On Saturday, May 9, The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division held their second youth music and performance competition at the Kroc Center in Kapolei.
For the Singing Company category, our Kroc, Kauluwela, and Hilo Corps competed for a spot in the Territorial Encore Competition. Our Kauluwela Mission Corps received the most points and will advance onto the Territorial competition on June 13 in Pasadena. A total of ten singers and their chaperones, two adult helpers and the song leader will be going to Pasadena and plan to raise $5,000 for their airfare, food, accommodations, and conference fees. “The kids in our corps are so excited. This is such a special opportunity for them to travel and see different Singing Companies across the Territory,” said Janniese Mulch, one of the helpers and also a Divisional Headquarters employee. “We’re hoping we can raise enough money for the entire group to compete.”
The Kaneohe Corps graced the audience with a beautiful hula.
“Our halau is so proud to be here and represent our corps,” said Major Florence Rodriguera of the Kaneohe Corps.
Among the performance acts was the talented Hilo Corps Timbral Group.
Mahalo to all of our Singing Companies, soloists and performers! You all represent the beauty in the Hawaiian & Pacific Islands.
